How to download and install Hyper-v on Windows 10 Home edition

Once enabled, launch the Hyper-V Manager. There, right-click on the computer name in the left pane, expand New , and then click Virtual Machine.

The New Virtual Machine Wizard will now launch. On the first screen, click Next. Now select a virtual switch for the VM with internet connectivity and click Next. As you can see i am limited to the amount of RAM and Storage on the laptop i wanted to plan creating the test domain carefully so i can learn. I agree with the FrenchITGuy that you can configure the VMs with the minimum hardware requirements in order to conserve resources. That will work fine on your system because your system is a two-core four logical processor system. Hyper-V can 'over-allocate' its cores.

By this I mean that though you have only four logical processors, you can have VMs running that are 'consuming' more than four virtual CPUs. An individual VM can have a maximum of four virtual CPUs on a host with four logical processors, but the total of all virtual CPUs consumed by all VMs is not limited by the number of logical processors in the host. The only thing that limits that is how much horsepower the VMs need.

For the lab you should be okay. In a production environment, you should base your calculation on physical cores and not logical processors because the multi-threaded component of the two logical processors per core is not equal to the power of a physical core.
